Body-coil nonenhanced MR angiography using highly undersampled radial QISS

چکیده
Background Current approaches for magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) require the use of parallel imaging in order to keep scan times short and obtain adequate slice coverage and spatial resolution. However, parallel imaging necessitates the use of phased array coils, which increases setup time and restricts the vascular territory that can be imaged. We hypothesized that using Quiescent-Inflow Single-Shot (QISS) MRA with only the body coil for signal reception and a highly undesampled radial k-space trajectory could obviate the need for phased array coils.

Nonenhanced MR angiography of the pulmonary arteries using single-shot radial quiescent-interval slice-selective (QISS): a technical feasibility study
BACKGROUND For evaluation of the pulmonary arteries in patients suspected of pulmonary embolism, CT angiography (CTA) is the first-line imaging test with contrast-enhanced MR angiography (CEMRA) a potential alternative. Disadvantages of CTA include exposure to ionizing radiation and an iodinated contrast agent, while CEMRA is sensitive to respiratory motion and requires a gadolinium-based contr...

Background Due to the association of gadolinium with nephrogenic systemic fibrosis in patients with renal insufficiency, nonenhanced methods for peripheral angiography such as quiescent interval single shot (QISS) and subtractive fast spin-echo are of increasing clinical interest. Despite the ability of these methods to depict peripheral vascular pathology, they have limited ability to display ...
متن کاملBreath-hold imaging of the coronary arteries using quiescent-interval slice-selective (qiss) magnetic resonance angiography - pilot study at 1.5 tesla and 3 tesla
BACKGROUND Coronary magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is usually obtained with a free-breathing navigator-gated 3D acquisition. Our aim was to develop an alternative breath-hold approach that would allow the coronary arteries to be evaluated in a much shorter time and without risk of degradation by respiratory motion artifacts. For this purpose, we implemented a breath-hold, non-contrast-enh...
متن کاملHigh acceleration quiescent-interval single shot magnetic resonance angiography at 3T in patients with peripheral artery disease
Background Quiescent-Interval Single Shot (QISS) non-contrast MR angiography (QISS-MRA) is an emerging technique with growing evidence for its use in the evaluation of peripheral artery disease (PAD) at 1.5T [1,2]. The use of 3 Tesla MRI scans is becoming more common in clinical practice and offers the main advantage of roughly double the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) than that of 1.5 Tesla MRI. ...
